Our Commitment to Charity

Because Betterware sales teams have been working in the heart of our communities for over 80 years we particularly like to encourage and support projects and activities which strengthen those communities. That’s why we were delighted to support Marie Curie Cancer Care (MCCC) in 2009 and 2010 and pledged to raise £30,000 through sales from our catalogues and dedicated MCCC products. Our head office and sales teams also threw themselves into raising money for the charity in a number of ways.

Our Company Values include Awareness and Family Focus and the Betterware team have been involved in many different kinds of fundraising activities over the years, ranging from Annual Fundays, sponsored treks up Snowdon, taking pert in the London Marathon and even skydives! All the money raised goes to support both national and local community charity appeals, as well as members of our own teams in times of need.

We also teamed up with Breast Cancer Care in our catalogue to raise funds as part of the ‘Pink Link’ campaign. We offered customers a range of pink gift products, with 10% of the selling price donated to the charity. In the first 3 months of the campaign, our customers have helped to donate over £25,000 to BCC.

Sculpture for Kids

The Betterware Foundation supported the Sculpture for Kids competition, run by the Robert Bowman Trust. The nationwide competition aims to capture the natural creativity and imagination of children through the medium of sculpture. The theme of the was ‘Trash to Treasure’, encouraging children to recycle by creating sculpture from unusual resources.

Andrew Prizes were awarded to children across four different age groups. Over 300 children nationwide entered this innovative competition, with 23 finalists chosen to exhibit their work at the Royal Society of British Artists. The £10,000 prize money, donated by Betterware Foundation, was split equally between the winning children’s school art departments.

Scope

Betterware Coordinator, Brian May, took time out of his Betterware business to raise money for Scope, the charity dedicated to people with Cerebral Palsy. Brian’s fundraising efforts were supported by the Betterware Foundation, which sponsored Brian on his five-day hike through the Valley, past snowcapped peaks and glacial lagoons to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu, in Peru. Brian wrote to Wendy Cohen, Director of the Betterware Foundation, to tell her more about his fundraising trip:

Brian May at Machu Picchu

I'm just writing to enclose a picture of me at Machu Picchu, the lost Inca city in Peru, holding a Betterware brochure! I survived the Inca trail in the high Andes, and I am really proud to say I completed it unaided, carrying my own rucksack, all the way. I thought you would like this picture, phenomenal and peaceful mountain top surroundings, at Machu Picchu. Thanks for your support earlier this year, we raised over £118,000 for Scope, which is really going to help change lives.
